Day Habilitation Center
The center offers a safe and personally nourishing environment for 18 consumers where they are coached in basic vocational skills and life skills. Programs are developed around individual needs, interests and abilities, with each consumer encouraged to expand his or her level of independence. Interaction with the community is encouraged through group outings and individual activities under the supervision of Skylands staff.
Consumers served by the training center include all ten residents of Skylands' two group homes, who are driven to and from the center every weekday on vans operated by Skylands staff. Under contract with other agencies, the center also serves some individuals who live at home or in residences operated by other organizations.
Our center program is operated by a highly qualified, experienced and motivated staff. Many of them are long-service employees whose accumulated experience with individual consumers is a major asset in meeting individual needs.
